Your First Visit to Terrace Hill Dental Center
WHAT TO EXPECT
The first appointment will take around 90 minutes. Whether it’s a 2-year-old coming in for their first visit or an adult, we strive to make every patient’s first visit as comfortable and informative as possible. At your initial appointment, one of the first things we will do is perform a comprehensive evaluation to assess your current oral health. This will include taking a full-mouth series of digital X-rays, including bitewings. Digital X-rays produce minimal radiation and create high-resolution images. You’ll be able to see what we see on screen in real time. X-rays will allow us to see any areas of concern immediately so we can start treatment planning right away.
Your first visit will also include perio probing to fully assess your current gum health and screen for gum disease.
Prophylaxis (professional teeth cleaning) is usually included in the first visit too. However, if you need scaling or root planing first, we’ll postpone this to a future appointment.
Once your evaluation is complete, your dentist will discuss your results, as well as any concerns you may have or smile goals you want to work toward.
